NASCAR theme and decorations.

While trying to find additional lodging in the Lawrence, Kansas area, there were NO hotels with availability. I was especially frustrated because there isn't a KU football game so it made no sense. Thankfully, I received an email from the Holiday Inn (which had 20 newly renovated rooms) explaining that the reason for my difficulties was the Kansas Speedway's NASCAR event the same weekend in September.

Once I knew the reason for the difficulty, Jeanna and I decided it was best to embrace the situation by having a Nascar themed wedding (click for planning directions). My research led me to quotes like, "This Nascar wedding centerpiece is the perfect way to incorporate a love of Nascar in your wedding, but in a more subdued elegant way." Favors, cake toppers, ring pillows, high heels and garters are among the Nascar items I found to make our special day even more unique. Jeanna suggested I get an extra long train on my dress so I could sell ad space on the prime real estate.

To my surprise, and perhaps due to my close-mindedness toward the 2nd most popular sport in the U.S., lots of people have had Nascar themes before us. I guess we'll just have to chose something else.

Dress search begins.

While looking at countless princess, fluffy, rhinestone, feathered, bedazzled, and many quite hideous dresses, I came across this number. The sunflowers and hat fit so perfectly into the Kansas prairie location, I don't think I have much of a choice but to find that dress immediately. And don't forget the lacy white high-heel boots. :)

Jerrod might be wearing cowboy boots at the wedding (by the way, cowboy boots originated in Olathe, KS) but I will not. I guess I'll just have to keep looking for the perfect dress.

Kansas. Marriage destination capitol of the world.

One might wonder why we chose Lawrence, Kansas for the most romantic day of ours lives. More likely you are wondering why we are dragging ALL our family and friends to Kansas instead of where I grew up, Ohio, or even Oklahoma for Jerrod. While some of you are wishing we'd eloped, we are asking you to share our special day, our Little Wedding on the Prairie, here in Kansas because we found a place that's exactly what we want. It will be a weekend of first meetings, reunions of old friends, Autumn activities, celebration and fun. Don't want to give too much away...and the final decision won't be made until the parents give their stamp of approval (hopefully).
